Mechanical Engineer

The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. (E2G) is a Northeast Ohio Engineering Consulting Company internationally recognized in the refining and petrochemical industries as the leader on aging infrastructure (fixed equipment) service and support. E2G has pioneered the development of advanced Fitness-for-Service (FFS) and risk based inspection (RBI) technologies. We have an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineer in the Pressure Vessel/Fitness for Service (FFS) Section based in our Clear Lake Office in Houston, Texas. This position works closely with the Mechanical Engineering staff in our Corporate Office in Shaker Heights, Ohio. As a member of E2G, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for:

  • Performing ASME and API Code calculations for pressure equipment, in support of design reviews, certification and re–rates of existing equipment.
  • Performing FFS assessments of existing equipment using API RP 579 Fitness-for-Service.
  • Performing Finite Element modeling and stress analysis to support FFS evaluations, failure investigations, new equipment design and repairs.
  • Supporting turnarounds at client’s facilities by providing on–site "problem solving" support.
  • Providing mechanical engineering support to other groups in E2G.
  • Assisting in the development and presentation of training courses.
  • Developing proposals for work, support FFS group projects, and perform other administrative job-tracking and time-keeping tasks.
  • Assisting with technology development related to international standards and publications.

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Must be a registered professional engineer within Texas.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic and the desire for a challenging, rewarding and progressive work environment are required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pressure vessel design or analysis, and be knowledgeable in the areas of ASME and API Codes and Standards related to the design, inspection, maintenance and evaluation of fixed equipment.
  • Knowledge of API 581 Risk-Based Inspection Technology, preferred.
  • Ability to travel, as needed. Possession of a valid Driver’s License and insurable driving records.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
