Hurricane Ike

Shaker Heights, Ohio…. The Equity Engineering Group, Inc., with offices in Ohio, Texas and Canada, announced today that it has raised $8,357.50 through a golf outing that will be donated to the Greater Houston Area Red Cross for Hurricane Ike relief

The golf outing, held at the Fowler’s Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio, was originally scheduled as part of the Company's annual meeting in Shaker Heights. When Hurricane Ike hit, the corporate meeting was cancelled so that "Houston employees could take care of their families and homes," said Dave Osage, Equity Engineering CEO and President. The scheduled golf event went on as planned, but the focus was changed.

"The devastation caused by Hurricane Ike coupled with the fact that many of the Equity employees live and work in the Houston area, made it impossible for the entire Equity family to attend the event," said Equity Engineering's Kraig Shipley, who organized the event. "Rather than selfishly enjoy a beautiful day and a round of golf while part of our corporate family was struggling to put the pieces of their lives back together, we decided to make the most of the scheduled event."

The golf outing was reformatted to consist of Golf Gimmicks (Yards of String, Mulligans, and Anywhere Tees), open box donations and contributions from non-participating employees, and an Equity corporate donation based on a formula of 7 x the total of the golf scores achieved at the fundraiser.

Next year, the Company plans to donate proceeds from the Golf Outing to the Equity Scholarship Program. Introduced this year, the goal of the program is to encourage talented high school seniors and university students from the greater Cleveland and Houston areas to pursue their education in engineering or computer science. The Company will award a maximum of 10 scholarships annually.

The Equity Engineering Group is a privately-held engineering company that provides technology and consulting services to major oil refining and petrochemical companies. Founded in 2002, the firm is headquartered in Shaker Heights, Ohio with offices in Houston, Texas, Edmonton, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario.
