Pressure Drop Calculations

A Key to Process Safety Design

The role of pressure drop calculations is vital in process safety design. Equity engineers have extensive knowledge and experience in performing pressure drop calculations for different purposes on various types of projects. Accurately performing these calculations will assure piping and equipment are designed properly and efficiently to handle the design parameters of the process. Equity Engineering is an industry leader in performing single-phase and 2-phase pressure drop analyses for designing pressure relieving devices, piping systems and equipment design.

We have performed numerous pressure drop calculations to design pressure relief systems, which are extremely important to ensure that the relief system safely relieves pressure during an overpressure event. Relief systems designed per API 520 and 521 ensure that the design meets the highest standards. Equity engineers have contributed to the development of API RP 520 Sizing, Selection, and Installation of Pressure-Relieving Devices in Refineries. Additionally, we are the official trainers for API Pressure Relieving Systems courses.

Equity is an industry leader in refinery and chemical plant piping system design. These piping systems are associated with the relief devices, as well as all other piping within the refinery or chemical plant. Our engineers have many years of hands-on experience in designing efficient and safe piping systems, according to ASME B31.1 and B31.3. They actively participate in the ASME B31.3 Design Task Group, maintaining and implementing technical design standards in the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code.
