New Equipment Design

The Equity Engineering Group (E2G) uses its extensive experience in industry codes and Finite Element Analysis to both design new equipment and support clients in the review of third party designs.

Case Study #1 – High Pressure Separator for a Gulf of Mexico Production Platform

E2G designed a High Pressure Separator for a Gulf of Mexico production platform. We wrote the Manufacturer’s Design Report and performed fracture mechanics calculations to establish a reduced minimum design metal temperature:

We also performed finite element analyses to extreme loads such as storm wind conditions on the vessel:

Case Study #2 – Fatigue Design of a Reactor

E2G performed a design review of a Reactor for a vessel fabricator. The review initially required E2G to determine the fatigue life of the reactor based on the operating and regeneration cycles in accordance with the new ASME Section VIII Division 2 rules. Through the course of the analysis, high thermal stress locations in the nozzles expanded the scope to include an elastic stress design. E2G provided some significant design changes that both addressed the elastic stress design, the fatigue life, and the creep life for the nozzles and other key vessel components. E2G also provided a fabrication specification to provide "best practice" fatigue fabrication details.
