Requirements
- Attendees must have successfully completed the API RP 580/581 Course.
- Attendees must bring a laptop loaded with API RBI Version 8 software.
- Attendees must be familiar with API RP 580 and API RP 581.
- Bringing these documents to the course may be helpful but is not required.

Mr. Alvarado is a Senior Consultant with more than 30 years experience in the chemical and refinery industries. Currently, he specializes in RBI implementation, training, mentoring and project management for The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. His prior industry experience includes serving as a Senior Member of Monsanto’s Materials Engineering Group, and also as Chief Chemist for NL Industries.
With more than a decade in the refining industry. Ms Downie is involved in engineering consulting services for metallurgy, corrosion, Risk-Based Inspection, and inspection planning for refining and petrochemical facilities. Her responsibilities include damage mechanism identification, shutdown work scope reviews using Risk-Based Inspection techniques, materials selection, and corrosion control. She provides technical support and engineering consulting for all levels of refinery technical experts and management. Ms. Downie is a member NACE, and is active in the API RBI Technical Committee. She has continued her education through API, ASTM and NACE courses focusing on corrosion, repair and welding techniques.
Mr. Harmody has assisted in the development of the Risk-Based Inspection technology in the API RBI Software including the consequence analyses and modeling. He supported a number of RBI projects on fixed equipment in refinery and petrochemical facilities using. Mr. Harmody also has experience as a mechanical engineer for an owner-user providing engineering support in terms of piping stress analyses, thermal design of heat transfer equipment, capital project management and turnaround support. Mr. Harmody has over a decade of educational experience as a science and mathematics instructor on the high school and college level and through distance learning.
