Breaking Down the Hydrogen Bake-Out Problem

A hydrogen bake-out is a process whereby the temperature of the steel is raised in a hydrogen-free environment, and held for a period of time, to allow any ingrained hydrogen to diffuse out of the steel. In practice, there are two primary questions that need to be answered: (1) Do I need to perform a bake-out? and (2) How long do I need to bake-out? This webinar answers these questions by presenting the preferred approach of solving the full hydrogen diffusion problem, discussing bake-out criterion, and demonstrating E2G’s Equity Engineering Cloud (EEC) hydrogen bake-out Web Tool, which conducts the fully transient, temperature-dependent diffusion analysis of hydrogen through the wall of the vessel to determine the most appropriate bake-out time.
